Details Lead Performance: The Specials; Genre: Reggae/Ska

The Specials, the perpetrators behind this anemic collection of far-flung covers (Peter Tosh, the Clash) claim they aren't attempting to re-create the original rambunctious, politically plugged-in early-'80s British ska outfit. But they're obviously not above trading on the band's good name with Today's Specials, even without chief songwriter Jerry Dammers and essential vocalist Terry Hall. For shame. C-
