Considering that the 1994 debut of this Halifax, Nova Scotia, quartet was mostly standard-issue alterna-rock, the tightly constructed pop workouts of Jale's sophomore effort are a real surprise. The songs, addressed mostly to unworthy lovers, break no new ground, but So Wound's jangly hooks and off-center hardmonies are played with breezy charm and enthusiasm. B+
