Leave it to the ever-ambitious Billy Corgan to tack six new songs onto the CD single ''Zero.'' This roof-raising postscript to The Smashing Pumpkins' latest album emphasizes their feverish, nerd-gone-haywire electric side, and at least two of its songs — the Gen-X anthem ''Mouths of Babes'' and the breezy anti-love song ''Pennies'' — are must-owns. On the other hand, ''Pastichio Medley,'' a sonic collage of song fragments that drags on for 23 minutes, may leave you daydreaming about smashing Corgan's head. B+
