Lacking the incandescent charm of Buffalo Springfield (or even the nervous energy of Buffalo Tom), Grant Lee Buffalo have perfected a doleful brand of introspective folk-rock that's likely to appeal to fans of weepy, acoustic-based mood music. Copperopolis, the band's third effort, has its share of poignant melodies, but the feeling of enervation it induces is deadly. B-
