There's no anxiety of influence here: Phil Cody's songs, which range from rollicking Basement Tape-like fables to darker-hued Blood on the Tracks ballads, display an unerring understanding of Bob Dylan's music. Unfortunately, connoisseurship can only go so far — The Sons of Intemperance Offering's tales of drifters and forlorn lovers fail to make a distinct impression. B-
