She's no Nina Blackwood. Which is to say Jenny McCarthy may actually have a shot at riding her MTV-propelled fame to a real career. Seemingly overnight, the sassy cohost of the music channel's hormonally charged game show Singled Out is everywhere. And while she may not yet be in Sharon Stone's league on the blond-power list, there's no question that she is the Gen-X goddess of the moment. So the big question is, Will McCarthy's career have, ahem, legs, or will her star fade in the harsh glare of overexposure? To keep track, we've decided to chart her relative visibility on the pop-cultural scene. This month you'll be able to make McCarthy sightings on The Tonight Show (June 27), MTV's Beach House, and on the covers of Playboy, TV Guide, Rolling Stone, and YM. That's what we call McCarthyism.
