The History of Dot Records (1996)

EW's GRADE
A

Details Genres: R&B, Reissues

Alongside these tracks' syrupy strings are wonderful rough patches: the weird soprano behind Pat Boone on ''Anastasia,'' the gutbucket doo-wop of the Dell-Vikings' ''Come Go With Me.'' Boone, Dot's mainstay, may have pasteurized black R&B, but The History of Dot Records also made room for Arthur Alexander and his unrefined soul. A
