Jumping on the orchestrated-pop-as-alternative-music bandwagon, the Chicago outfit Yum-Yum puts a mild twist on the genre: The pop in dan loves patti is set to old-fashioned, lush arrangements (strings, woodwinds, the whole nine) is the kind of dreamy OMD-style stuff that had its heyday in the John Hughes era. A worthwhile if often precious experiment. B
