While the Olympics-inspired exhibition of rarely seen together masterpieces by such artists as Rodin, El Greco, Picasso, and Matisse at Atlanta's High Museum of Art may be stirring, this tie-in is anything but. Divided into five thematic sections (Awe, Triumph, Joy, Love, and Anguish), the paintings and sculptures can be examined separately or within lecture programs that play like those sleep-inducing slide shows in college. Too many of the images on Rings: Five Passions in World Art are murky, and crude morphing and dissolve effects undermine an ambitious attempt at combining poetry and music with visual material. If you really want to see this show, buy a ticket to Atlanta. C-
