Catwalk (1996)

EW's GRADE
D

Details Movie Rated: Unrated; Genre: Documentary; With: Christy Turlington

The story behind this cinema verite look at supermodel Christy Turlington is infinitely more dramatic than the film itself. Though it was directed by Robert Leacock (who, as a cinematographer, helped provide Madonna's Truth or Dare with its shabbily chic look), Catwalk was yanked away by the producers and reedited. The resulting mess, which follows Turlington both on and off the ramp in New York, Milan, and Paris, is so mind-numbingly dull — Turlington making phone calls from the back of her limo, chatting with her supermodel pals backstage, getting accessorized to within an inch of her life by adoring designers — that even Turlington herself reportedly hated it (she refused to do publicity when it was released theatrically earlier this year).
