Movie Review

Supercop (1996)

EW's GRADE
B

Details Rated: R; Length: 91 Minutes; Genres: Action/Adventure, Comedy; With: Jackie Chan

The most powerful starring role for a woman this summer? My vote goes to Michelle Khan in this garish, frenetic, and funny chopper from Rumble in the Bronx director Stanley Tong. Khan costars in Supercop with the unbreakable Jackie Chan, who plays an undercover cop sent to bring down a drug biggie in...Hong Kong? Kuala Lumpur? Everywhere in Southeast Asia, really: Chan kicks, he slices, he hangs from a rope ladder dangling from a helicopter, and Khan is right beside him as his cool, tough, ballet-svelte boss. Great-awful dubbing, corny-winking dialogue, tacky-energetic editing, and thrilling-cartoony action make for a lighthearted kick-'em-up that's worth either an A or a D, depending on your mood. B
