Mix Johnny Copeland's sage voice and poignant, Southwestern blues guitar with African percussion and the result is a hybrid that might take getting used to for blues traditionalists — but Jungle Swing grows more appealing with each listen. Whether Copeland dominates a track (the stark, beautiful ''I Got a Love'') or the African influence does (the rambunctious ''Kasavubu''), the spirit is powerful. B+
