Exits Starlet-of-the-moment Liv Tyler, 19, replaced her publicist Bebe Buell — who also happens to be her mother — with new publicist Mark Urman. ''This was a mutually arrived-at decision,'' says Urman. ''Bebe will always be her mother. Liv hasn't replaced her.''

Castings Supermodel and budding actress Elle Macpherson, 31, signed to play Bruce Wayne's girlfriend in Warner Bros.' Batman and Robin. Says her publicist, ''She'll look wonderful next to George Clooney.''

Engaged Jim Carrey, 34, finally popped the question to Lauren Holly, 32, his on-again, off-again girlfriend of two years. Carrey proposed on July 21, during a visit to the San Francisco set of her movie, A Smile Like Yours. It will be the second marriage for both actors. No wedding date has been set.

Expecting Actress Kate Capshaw, 42, and her husband, director and DreamWorks cofounder Steven Spielberg, 49, will add to their ever-burgeoning clan in November. The power couple already have four children — two are adopted — as well as one child each from previous marriages....

Deaths At least three entertainment figures were victims of the July 17 TWA Flight 800 disaster: Jed Johnson, 47, a highly regarded interior designer who had been a regular at Andy Warhol's Factory and director of the 1977 cult film Bad; French guitarist Marcel Dadi, 46, a protege of Chet Atkins who was recently honored at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame; and Jack O'Hara, 39, an Emmy-winning ABC Sports executive producer en route to head Tour de France coverage. His wife, Janet, 39, and daughter, Caitlin, 13, also perished....

Bassist Chas Chandler, 57, of an apparent heart attack, July 17, in Newcastle, England. Chandler, a founder of the Animals, produced Jimi Hendrix's first two LPs....

Drummer John Panozzo, 47, of a gastrointestinal hemorrhage, July 16, in Chicago. Panozzo, who suffered from cirrhosis of the liver as a result of chronic alcoholism, was a cofounder of Styx.
