The Muppets have long been staples of any kid's video library. But you've got to wonder who the target audience is for their latest adventure. Energetically spoofing a genre that's been virtually dormant for decades, Kermit and Co. share the spotlight with Rocky Horror veteran Curry (as Long John Silver) in a plot peppered with clever in-jokes including a Caribbean cruise director on a pirate ship and an island tribal chant lifted from Sly & the Family Stone. It's all just amusing enough to keep a parent awake for the full running time. Kids, however, may spend Muppet Treasure Island asking what's so funny. B-
