The strummed guitars and droning strings beneath Heidi Berry's sultry voice evoke both the mist of the fens and the dust of the desert. It's an intriguing combination, and one heard to best effect on ''The Mountain,'' where she sounds like Sandy Denny fronting the Velvet Underground's ''Black Angel's Death Song.'' Berry's well-crafted, commonsense songs on Miracle keep the folky, ethereal mix grounded. B+
