On Excerpts From a Love Circus, album No. 3, John Mellencamp's former fiddler Lisa Germano adds trembling violins to other aural oddities, like the plinking of a toy piano and the purring of her cat. Those quirky elements help lighten the troubled lullabies by Germano, who's slightly more upbeat than on her last disc. Here's hoping one day she completely steps off that depressing merry-go-round.
