The erotic thriller Suite 16 starts off in familiar territory, as a gigolo thief (Antoine Kamerling) runs from the cops and ends up in the luxurious home of a wheelchair-bound millionaire (Postlethwaite). The usual homoerotic tension unfolds as the young stud finds himself in charge of fulfilling the rich man's voyeuristic desires by bedding a parade of prostitutes, and there's little new when the predatory roles begin to blur. But what sets this Dutch import apart are subtle performances (especially by Postlethwaite, who earned an Oscar nomination for In the Name of the Father) and the film's pervasive sense of doom, raising it above Playboy Channel fare.
