If your sweet and quirky next-door neighbor decided to host an on-line talk show, The Janice Malone Show (www.AudioNet.com/shows/malone) would be it. Malone spins her homey Q&A sessions out of a makeshift studio in Dallas, with a guest roster that rises above the usual Internet B-list backwash (Sandra Bernhard, Tony Curtis, and The Chamber's Lela Rochon are among her catches). However, owing to RealAudio's staticky, AM-quality sound and Malone's just-plain-folks style, logging on can feel like listening to a tape-recorded phone conversation. The hour-long show, which is broadcast live Fridays at 8 p.m., includes music clips and a harmless celebrity-gossip segment but no video. And though Malone, a freelance supermarket-tabloid reporter, is not the most experienced interviewer (you can hear Malone's call waiting click in during the Stephen Stills interview), her show is definitely worth a listen.
