Videogame Review: 'Timelapse'

EW's GRADE
C

Treading the thin line between harmless entertainment and mind-numbing pseudoscience, the four-disc set Timelapse lets players explore various archaeological landscapes — Easter Island, a Mayan temple, Anasazi ruins in the American Southwest — and solve the usual assortment of arcane puzzles in search of the lost city of Atlantis. But aside from its derivative, Chariots of the Gods frisson, Timelapse's main attraction is its full-screen, realistically rendered environments — though I'd gladly trade this dubious innovation for higher-res, quarter-screen images. Whatever you do, don't buy this for your kids — I'd hate to see the grades on their next history test. C
