Rifling its vaults, Mercury found that over the last 25 years a slew of its artists recorded Rolling Stones songs. Voila -- an instant tribute (and a benefit album for the Lighthouse as well)! The best of these -- Johnny Cash's hoedown on ''No Expectations'' and Rod Stewart's slide-guitar driven ''Street Fighting Man'' -- dare to mess with the Mick and Keith songbook. But poseurs from Cinderella to the Stones' intimate Marianne Faithfull pussyfoot around, as if approaching this iconic material gives a rocker cold feet and sticky fingers.
