Video Review: 'Forest Warrior' (1996)

EW's GRADE
D

Details Movie Rated: PG; Genre: Drama; With: Chuck Norris and Terry Kiser

Looking ridiculous under a Spinal Tap wig, Chuck Norris stars in Forest Warrior as Jedidiah McKenzie, a shape-shifting 19th-century woodsman who helps a ragtag bunch of kids defend their mountain against an avaricious developer (Weekend at Bernie's stiff Kiser). Along with 1993's Sidekicks, this straight-to-video snoozer is part of Norris' campaign to reposition himself as the family-friendly action hero. Unfortunately, he's as wooden as the trees that surround him, and the hard-up supporting cast doesn't help: Barney Miller's Max ''Wojo'' Gail as a sheriff and a ''special appearance'' by Loretta Swit (isn't that an oxymoron?) as one of the tykes' mothers. Save your rental fee and watch Norris kick butt for free on CBS' Walker, Texas Ranger. D
