Music Review: 'Anuthatantrum' (1996)

EW's GRADE
C

Details Lead Performance: Da Brat; Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Though Da Brat tries to come off as a hard-toking junior G, Anuthatantrum is more bluster than menace, sounding about as scary as a schoolyard boast. In fact, if it weren't for the funky foundation of Jermaine Dupri's tuneful, efficient backing tracks, these hissy fits would be unlistenable. Maybe next time she'll hold her breath until she turns blue — leaving us with a record that's 100 percent Dupri. C
