The Land Before Time IV: Journey through the Mists

MPAA Rating: G
EW's GRADE
B

Details Movie Rated: G; Genre: Animation; Distributor: Universal Home Video

That ''long neck'' dinosaur Littlefoot is back in The Land Before Time IV: Journey through the Mists, still little, still wandering with his friends on dangerous adventures, and still learning important lessons in dinosaur family values. But if the formula hasn't changed, it hasn't fossilized, either. In fact, the animation looks more vibrant than in The Land Before Time III, and the songs (this time by James Horner and Leslie Bricusse) are catchier, too. None of the sequels have matched the Bambi-esque artistry of the Don Bluth-directed original (Bluth is no longer involved). But for direct-to-tape fare, this has uncommon staying power. B
