Articulate piano giant Bill Evans' The Secret Sessions, an eight-CD collection of 1966-75 performances captured by a fan using a concealed tape recorder, feels varied and relaxed. But beware of tonal distortion, imbalance, and dropouts. Let's hope a forthcoming boxed set from Verve does better. B-
