Abandoning the numerical sequencing that would have signaled the seventh sign of the apocalypse, the Police Academy series goes direct to video in the U.S. with Police Academy: Mission to Moscow, a fate the films have always deserved. The staples: silly sound effects, neglible plot, the usual cast of idiots. The innovations: jokes about borscht and Chernobyl, a Russia where everyone speaks funny broken English (though the computer screens read in perfect English). The unexpected: real Moscow locations, plus the bizarre presence of cool veteran actor Christopher Lee. The absolutely expected: another low grade from Entertainment Weekly. D-
