Back in the day, before Hole was formed, Lois Maffeo put out her lo-fi acoustic musings in a band mysteriously called Courtney Love. When the band broke up a few years ago, she abandoned the name. Bet The Sky, her third solo, sounds much fuller, with swirly guitars and some almost-danceable beats. But the focus continues to be on Lois' deadpan alto and her astonishingly evocative lyrics. B
