Celebrity news for the week of January 27, 1995

DEALS Former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty, 23, is the latest celeb — following Drew Barrymore and Molly Ringwald — to sign with Elite's celebrity model division. ''Models have gone to Hollywood and taken the celebrity status, and now celebrities are striking back,'' says a spokeswoman for Elite...After a protracted battle of words, Tom Clancy has reportedly called a truce with Paramount. The studio has bought the film rights to his 1988 thriller, Cardinal of the Kremlin, for an unspecified amount and will use the book as the basis for the next Jack Ryan movie. Clancy's agent did not return calls.

LAWSUITS Claiming slander and infliction of emotional distress, Michael Jackson, 36, lobbed a $100 million lawsuit at an L.A. radio station, two radio personalities, and two Hard Copy producers, among others, for claiming that a videotape allegedly showed sexual misconduct between Jackson and a young boy. ''(The defendants) appear more concerned with their ratings than they are with the accuracy of their broadcasts,'' the suit says. ''Hard Copy stands by its reporting,'' says the show's spokesman. ''We believe this is simply an attempt by (Jackson attorney) Howard Weitzman to discourage Hard Copy and other media from continuing their independent investigations.''...Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, 46, and diva Faye Dunaway, 54, settled their legal dispute on Jan. 16. Webber reportedly paid Dunaway, who last summer was dismissed from the Los Angeles production of Sunset Boulevard, $500,000. ''I hope our paths will cross one day in happier circumstances when my regard for her abilities can be shown more fruitfully,'' Webber said in a statement.

RECOVERING Richard Dreyfuss, 47, after his car, a rented Lexus coupe, hit both a streetlight and a parking meter on Jan. 15 in Los Angeles. ''I assume his car slid on the slick roads,'' says his spokesman. ''Other than some aches and pains from the airbag and seatbelt, he's fine.''
