These glam sleazers surprise you with fast hooks passed down from Chuck Berry, Van Halen, maybe Mott the Hoople. A handful of bong-hit ballads and road-race rumbles succumb to sludge-ugly necrophilic nonsense. But Vicious Circle (Polydor/ A&M) is funny and full of heart. B
