Details Lead Performance: The Marley Family; Genre: Reggae/Ska

Billed as a celebration of Bob Marley's 50th birthday (the reggae star died in 1980), The Marley Family Album (Heartbeat/Rounder) avoids the glum-faced tribute trap with a bouncy, fun collection of singles. While Rita Marley's strong ''Keep On Pushing'' provides the expected moral anchor, she wisely makes room for younger branches of the family tree, who make no attempt to disguise their debts to throbbing dance music and funky hip-hop.
