Simple Minds Good News From the Next World (Virgin) Their 13th album covers big themes-faith, love, redemption, and death-and singer Jim Kerr inflates each dance-rock anthem with a sense of fervor. Unfortunately, Minds are still purveying the empty licks that went out of style with John Hughes movies, and their pseudo-religious lyrics are more banal than a John Bradshaw lecture.
