This debut has the super-tight trio drawing from all over the map-from Cheap Trick to the Replacements to a revved-up Squeeze. The jumpy and harmonic power- pop tunes are anchored by a bottom-heavy bass. But it's Damon Hennessey's seductively plaintive guitar that gives Mother its subtle kick.
