The Razor's Edge (1995)

Loaded down with a cargo of stars, producer Darryl Zanuck's splashy, earnest production of Somerset Maugham's novel was the kind of ''literary'' adaptation that Hollywood used to do best. In The Razor's Edge Tyrone Power plays a Midwesterner searching the world for the meaning of life; Gene Tierney is the girl he leaves behind. But it's Clifton Webb who's most enjoyable, as an old homosexual dispensing advice and acerbic comments with poisonous precision. A-
