VAL D'ISERE SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING (Atari, for Jaguar, $59.99) No, Val- d'Isere isn't some European ski bum you never heard of. It's a site in France for world championship skiing, and while it's impossible to say whether these digitized slopes and moguls correspond to the real thing, the presentation is convincing enough to make you want to buckle your boots. Like driving games, though, the disc is selectively realistic: The controls are hair-trigger responsive and the rushing mountain scenery looks ultra-cool, but when you crash into a tree at 60 mph, you can get right up and resume the race. In the real world, the ski patrol would be notifying your next of kin. B+ -BS
