If you were a hopeful film investor with a couple hundred grand lying around, you too might be tempted by a script about the internationally popular sport of soccer. Yet even entertainment-starved Third World audiences would turn up their noses at The Final Goal. Trash-film fans may find it worth a rental just to see Estrada as an evil ex-soccer star bent on destroying the game, and they won't be disappointed when he throws out a maniacal laugh worthy of a Space Ghost villain. Most others will give up long before the ending -- an amazingly dull match that demonstrates why Americans would still rather watch golfers strolling around a green. D-
