THE RED SHOES Emeric Pressburger, Marius Goring (1948, Voyager, unrated, $124.95) This three-disc edition of Pressburger and Michael Powell's most famous collaboration, still the best backstage-at-the-ballet movie, is a treat from start to finish. Along with a freeze-frameable video transfer in astonishing Technicolor, you get audio interviews with the stars and the cameraman, a fascinating animated demo of the film's central ballet sequence, Jeremy Irons reading from the 1977 novelization, excerpts from the rest of the Powell-Pressburger oeuvre, even a lively speed-rap by fan Martin Scorsese. But make no mistake, the magical film itself is still the main attraction. A+ -Steve Simels
