*At a Theater Near Few: Don't hold your breath waiting for For Better or Worse, Jason Alexander's directorial debut, to come to town. The Seinfeld star's comedy slipped onto 24 screens in Minneapolis and Portland, Ore., on March 17 as a test, and while its producer, Castle Rock, swears the film will eventually get a nationwide release, we'll see. Worse, which suffered from a super-tight shooting schedule and late casting changes, earned only $25,912 on its first weekend. *Coming Sooner: Joe Roth's Disney can't seem to get While You Were Sleeping into theaters quick enough. Once slated for August, the romantic comedy, which stars Sandra Bullock, has had its release advanced twice, and is now due April 21, which puts it head-to-head with the David Caruso thriller Kiss of Death. *Revised (Again): Two weeks ago we showed you a Heavenly Creatures ad that played upon the new fame of mystery writer Anne Perry, whose adolescent crime the Miramax movie recounts. One hand washes the other, right? Wrong. The latest print ad for Creatures is a 200-word open letter to Perry that asks her to stop bad-mouthing the movie. Says Miramax's Mark Gill: ''We ran out of patience with her bashing the film without having seen it.''
