THE SECRETARY Mel Harris, Sheila Kelley (1995, Republic, R, priced for rental) L.A. Law's Kelley steals the show as a psycho office worker who blackmails, embezzles, and murders without batting a lash. She's doing it to ''make her daddy proud,'' and Heaven help anyone who gets in her way-especially new boss Harris and her nice little family. Taking its best button-pushing tricks from Fatal Attraction, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, and The Temp, this thriller adds just enough original twists to keep things perversely amusing. If everyone (except Kelley) hadn't played things so straight, it might have been downright hilarious. B- -MS
