THE H.R. GIGER SCREEN SAVER

THE H.R. GIGER SCREEN SAVER (Cyberdreams, floppy disk for Mac and Windows, $29.95) Isn't it time to show your vanilla coworkers with the tired flying toasters that you've got a dark side to rival Trent Reznor's? There's no better way than with the sublimely nightmarish creations of Swiss artist H.R. Giger (who created the sleek and spiny monster in Alien). In some 20 hauntingly animated images, eerie metallic exoskeletons roam postapocalyptic landscapes. One caveat: Be sure to turn down the program's twee Casiotone soundtrack, which is more like early Depeche Mode than the bone-chilling audio you'd expect. B -- Chris Nashawaty
