DEALS Former heavyweight Ricki Lake, 26, has signed a deal reportedly worth six figures with Pocket Books to write Sophie's Revenge, the story of a fat girl who lands the lead in the school play opposite the school's most popular boy.
RECOVERED Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, 30, after a swimming mishap near Auckland, New Zealand, on March 25. Vedder was taking a dip when he hit choppy waters. ''The riptide just opened up and took him straightaway,'' says a lifeguard. ''He was treading water but in full control.''
