ROB ROY (R) A rousingly square romantic epic. Any doubts about how sexy Liam Neeson is going to look in a kilt are dispelled by the opening scene: He looks fantastic in a kilt. Neeson's Robert Roy MacGregor, the hero of Scottish folklore, is presented as a new breed of macho domestic warrior. Poised against Rob Roy and his comrades are the royal fops-decadent English schemers who carry on in the vain, bored tones of the villains in old Hollywood costume epics. Chief among the evil wig men is Tim Roth, who is like playing Richard III. The film follows a predictable dramatic arc, yet it has style and heart, and Neeson and Jessica Lange are superb together.
