Big-band swing doesn't get much more satisfying than these spirit-lifting sides from 1938-39. Neither Goodman nor his imitators would ever again front bands that were better able to carry off the Fletcher Henderson and Jimmy Mundy charts here. And Loren Schoenberg's notes will provide helpful guidance for first-time listeners.
