Steve Winwood The Finer Things (Island/Chronicles) This four-disc retrospective covers blue-eyed soul man Winwood's stints with the Spencer Davis Group, several incarnations of Traffic, and Stomu Yamashta's Go, and adds rarities from Blind Faith and the short-lived Powerhouse (both with Eric Clapton). The last disc documents the bland professionalism of Winwood's solo career a bit too exhaustively, but this is still one of those rare sets where the wheat outweighs the chaff. B+ -TS
