The production on Forbert's seventh album, by E Street Band bassist Garry Tallent, is impeccable but monotonous. The guitars shimmer, the keyboards sparkle, but the tempos propelling Forbert's poetic songs rarely make it past an easy-listening saunter, allowing perhaps too much time to focus on the singer's love-it-or- leave-it rasp.
