Is 'Myst' Doomed?

This week's top software

Myst may have gained success as a peaceful, plangent, otherworldly experience — but it looks as if the slavering alien geeks of Doom and Doom II are about to overrun it: D!Zone Collector's Edition — a bulging storehouse of 900 extra levels of the feverish outer-space shoot-'em-ups — leaps 12 spaces on the CD-ROM chart to No. 2.

Meanwhile, Disney has muscled into the home-education PC and Mac charts, where its fluffy, play-oriented Lion King storybook and Aladdin Activity Center rule over such instructional titles as Reader Rabbit 1 and Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing! Maybe there should just be a chart for movie tie-ins.
