Music Review: 'Over the Top' (1995)

Fronted by massive Leslie West, Mountain was, in more ways than one, the heaviest of the '70s biker-boogie bands. ''Mississippi Queen'' was their only perfect moment, but they could be funky, even graceful. Unfortunately, this best-of collection — which includes a song about whales — is overkill: 34 helpings of plodding guitar is more blubber than most people can eat. B-
