With all this talk of Generation X, what better time to get reacquainted with their slacker prototypes, the Generation W members of The Breakfast Club? It's been 10 years since John Hughes' seminal Brat Pack film appeared. And as a sort of anniversary celebration, we've scoured video-store shelves to check out what the once-hip quintet is up to now. Current status: The newly buffed Hall has gone the direct-to-video route with
the rubber-monster kiddie flick The Adventures of a Gnome Named Gnorm and as star and director of Hail Caesar, about an aspiring rock singer who works in an eraser factory.
Emilio Estevez
Breakfast role: The athlete.
Current status: Who could've predicted the cruel irony that the jock, punished for taping together the buns of a defenseless geek, would go on to star in The Mighty Ducks and D2: The Mighty Ducks as the coach of, well, a team full of defenseless geeks?
Ally Sheedy
Breakfast role: The basket case.
Current status: Seemingly trying to follow in the footsteps of fellow St. Elmo's Fire alum Demi Moore, Sheedy's become a mainstay in the erotic-thriller aisle with both Zalman King's Red Shoe Diaries 4: Auto Erotica and the upcoming One Night Stand.
Molly Ringwald
Breakfast role: The princess.
Current status: Ringwald moved to Paris to get away from such decidedly plebeian bombs as Fresh Horses, returning to the small screen last year
for ABC's Stephen King's The Stand. That was a round-trip ticket, right?
Judd Nelson
Breakfast role: The juvenile delinquent.
Current status: He's graduated from being the Club's flared-nostril bad boy, to dating Shannen Doherty, to being...um, the flared-nostril bad boy opposite Doherty in the made-for-cable
