The mop-topped Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore strides into the solo spotlight with this versatile set of chugging postpunk rockers. His songs have witty titles (''Ono Soul''), corrosive textures, angular rhythms, and more ideas than he seems to know what to do with. Psychic Hearts is a fascinating combination of avant-garde smarts and do-it-yourself spirit. B+
