In a classic case of reach exceeding grasp, MOR schlockmeisters Chicago bring all the musical charm and freeze-dried soul of a Vegas lounge act to Night & Day (their 22nd) of big-band-era cover tunes like ''Caravan'' and ''Sophisticated Lady.'' Even guests like the Gipsy Kings and R&B trio Jade can't salvage a project this misbegotten. C-
