Sid and Nancy (1986)

Alex Cox's bent biopic, Sid and Nancy about Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious and his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, remains one of the most original films of the '80s, an unlikely and weirdly romantic mix of black comedy and realistic tragedy. This new laserdisc version, in an immaculate wide-screen transfer, comes with surprisingly amusing bonuses: footage of the real couple, a previously unreleased making-of short, and intelligent reminiscences from the stars and (not always flattering) critical commentary by band acquaintances on an extra audio track.
