Andy Warhol’s presence continues to be felt -- Three upcoming films feature the pop artist as a character

Andy Warhol's 15 minutes aren't up yet. Eight years after his death, there are three movies in the works in which the silver-wigged pop artist will be a character. Herewith, a look at Warhol's latest brush with fame:

I Shot Andy Warhol
In this story of Valerie Solanas — the founder of SCUM (Society for Cutting Up Men), who shot Warhol — Lili Taylor (Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle) plays the shooter and Jared Harris (The Last of the Mohicans) plays the artist. ''It's not an attack on Warhol and it doesn't glorify the shooting,'' says director Mary Harron. But, she says, ''it's very sympathetic to Solanas.''

A Low Life in High Heels
Based on the life of Holly Woodlawn, a drag queen and member of Warhol's Factory, this biopic initially attracted interest from both Madonna's Maverick and playwright Harvey Fierstein. But Woodlawn went with independent producer Michael Zoumas, who is now in talks with several studios. ''We're debating whether to even show Warhol,'' says Zoumas. ''We may identify him as this puff of hair and everybody's around him like sharks.''

Basquiat
This film follows the life of Jean-Michel Basquiat, a graffiti artist and friend of Warhol's who died of an overdose in 1988. It will star Broadway actor Jeffrey Wright as Basquiat and David Bowie as Warhol. ''There's not a direct resemblance,'' says Adam Brightman, production manager. ''But they share an ethereal quality.''
